Govt. Brings Crypto Assets Under the Purview of PMLA

The Ministry of Finance has notified an amendment in Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002. Now, a person carrying on designated business or profession under section 2(1)(sa) of the PMLA, 2002 shall include exchange between virtual digital assets and fiat currencies, exchange between one or more forms of virtual digital assets, transfer of virtual digital assets, participation in and provision of financial services related to an issuer’s offer and sale of a virtual digital asset, etc.
