The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a unique global identifier for legal entities participating in financial transactions. Also known as an LEI code or LEI number, its purpose is to help identify legal entities on a globally accessible database.
Recently, the Reserve Bank of India has mandated all the Indian entities to obtain LEI which comes under the criteria as specified by RBI from time to time.
Attached is the diagrammatical representation outlining the brief on the applicability of LEI, its impact, due dates and consequences of non-obtaining the LEI. I have tried to represent the details in a diagrammatical format to make the concept easy to understand.
